"For she is whirled by whim."
I work full time. I have been at a metal fabricating company for ten years. I’m in orders and receive PO’s from companies all over the world. And I also do customer service.
We live in Spencer and I have four children: Kelley Lederer is an investigator for TJX. Brian Lederer is a Master Plumber and Inspector for Holden. Amy Hare is a Paralegal with Unum. Mark Lederer is Property Manager for Szeto Landmark Realty. We have four grandsons and two step-grandsons. Nothing “Pink” at our house. My favorite hobbies include painting and Zen Tangle Art and knitting. My favorite place to travel is Sturgis, South Dakota. We like to travel across the country on our Harley. My favorite memory of Wachusett is meeting so many new people. After elementary school in Paxton, WRHS was huge. I’ve been married to Don for 33 years! The toughest time was when grandson Zack Hare got leukemia at age 10. He had to have a bone marrow transplant in Boston and spent seven months at Children’s Hospital. The good news is he has been cancer free for three years. |
"A day in April was never so sweet."
I spent my career in accounting, working as a financial planner and stock broker. I also worked as an appraiser. While I am pretty much retired, I still do some part-time real estate.
I am married, for the second time, now for 32 years. I had four children, (two of whom are deceased.) And I have two grandsons! We live in Clinton. Thankfully, I have no major health issues, a little arthritis in my hands … we are old, after all! My hobbies include sewing, gambling, travel and a lot of community service in the past. I was the first woman president of the Clinton Exchange Club and the first woman president of the New England District Exchange Clubs. When my husband Jim and I travel, we like to go to Aruba. Of Wachusett, I remember I was so shy in those days, sadly I didn’t create a lot of memories; still we built some great friendships and enjoyed some fun dances. |
"Patience is a remedy for every sorrow."
It wasn’t bad turning 68, but to think of going to our 50th high school reunion made me feel ancient!
Mr. Bowes’ art class is my favorite memory of Wachusett. After WRHS graduation I went to The School of Practical Art in Boston, where I met Jim. We graduated in 1968 & both got jobs in Boston in advertising and design. We married in 1970 and moved to New Hampshire, while continuing to work in Boston. In 1972 our daughter, Melissa, was born and in 1973 we moved to our present location. Jim got a job at Yankee Magazine and I was a stay at home Mom, until I felt that I was stagnating. I felt compelled to teach art so I went to Franklin Pierce College and got my BA and K-12 art certification in 1992. I taught K-6 art in 5 different schools, the traveling art teacher. I was happy & loved my job. In Feb. 2002, I suffered a major medical catastrophe. Within 24 hours after a procedure went very wrong, I was in a coma, not expected to live. I remained in the coma for 6 months, then after 7 months, I was finally transferred to Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Boston, where I spent another 3 months learning how to sit, stand and walk again. In August, 2003, I had major reconstructive surgery, and finally, in March of 2004, my husband donated a kidney to me. Many miracles happened along the way and I now know that there are no coincidences in life, only God’s plan for us. I was given a new lease on life. We continue to appreciate and love each other, our home we built ourselves in the woods and our family, our daughter and her two children, Evan, age 18 and Lily, age 15. I am happy to be here! |

I married our classmate Brian Windward's older sister Cheryll and we had two children. One was a glass blower and gave us a talented 5 year old grandson; the other is the New Media Director for a small advertising firm in Irvington, NY. He's also a Senior Editor for Pocketnow.com. I was the warehouse manager for several huge retail fabric chains while obtaining degrees from Sacrament City College and Sacramento State College. After an advanced degree from Indiana University I spend 9 years producing training programs at the medical schools of Indiana University, University of Cincinnati and UMass. Next I was hired by Digital Equipment Corp (and subsequently acquired by Compaq and Hewlett Packard) for 16 years as an instructional designer and video producer. I worked on the internet before there was "WWW". In the meantime I was an EMT and a board member of Sterling EMS, Inc. for 18 years. I spent a few years as the fire photographer for the Sterling Fire Department. I am currently "retired" but like most of you still active - I am the webmaster and technical adviser for a central Mass. emergency preparedness planning agency for public health. We returned to Sterling in the early 80's as 4th generation residents. Looking back at our yearbook, I thought it was weird that we dressed in sports coats and ties to go to basketball games.... |
"What e'er he did was done with ease."
Following graduation I attended Massachusetts College of Pharmacy for two years and later transferred to Worcester State College where I earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education in 1970. I later earned a Master of Education Degree in School Administration also from WSC.

Two great things happened in 1970. First, I married my high school sweetheart Maureen Maher and together we had two wonderful children, Bryan (1972) and Julie (1975). We made our home and raised our kids in Holden, in the same house on Raymond Street for many years. The children grew, were married, and made their ways. Bryan is married to Susan they live in the Chicago area and have four wonderful children, two boys and two girls, ages 14 to 7. Julie is married to Mike they live in Shrewsbury and have two wonderful children, a boy and girl, ages 10 and 7.
The second important thing that happened was the start of a career in education and I spent the next 40 years working in a variety of professional positions within Holden and The Wachusett Regional School District. I began as fourth grade teacher and retired as the Assistant Superintendent of Schools. Wachusett was and still is a great place to work and to educate children. |
Following retirement Maureen and I have moved to an over 55 community, but remained in Holden. In fact our new home is less than two miles from where I was raised. Each of us volunteers in our condo community and at church. We like to travel, Chicago is a nice place to visit and who needs an excuse to visit grandkids. Shrewsbury grandkids keep us busy with sporting events and dance.
Working on the Reunion Committee has been enjoyable. The Committee is comprised of hardworking individuals who like to have fun. It has been rewarding to have so many classmates contacting us over the last few months.

Tony and I have been married for 45 years. We have three sons and six wonderful grandchildren. We are retired enjoying our summers in Wells, Maine. My hobbies include gardening, yoga, biking, and cross-country skiing. I have many great memories at Wachusett but can't believe it has been 50 years ago!! The committee has done a fantastic job planning the reunion. Looking forward to seeing everyone! |

Thanks for finding me here in Oklahoma.
Who would ever thought someone from Princeton, MA would end up in Great Plains of the country. Lots of oil, horses and cowboys :)
Sorry my wife Lorraine and I won't be able to make the party, but happy 70th B'day to all.
Keep us in your reunion file.
Regards,
Dave Luikey

"Mingle a little folly with your wisdom; a little nonsense now and then is pleasant."
Thank you so much to the committee for organizing this - 50 years seems like yesterday.
During that brief period of time, I've been married for 47 years to Christopher Beach, earned advanced degrees, had a rewarding career on the faculty of the University of Maine at Farmington working with families, children, and young teachers in the field of Early Childhood Education, and raised a fine son, Jed, who is married to a very fine daughter-in-law (Emilia) and now I find myself a grandparent of 2 terrific preschool boys. We've lived in western Maine since 1970, on an old farm which we restored over the years, and enjoy all the farm projects which keep us busy and healthy (e.g., raising sheep, cutting wood, making cider/maple syrup, chasing moose out of the pastures, etc.) Since we had numerous opportunities to travel earlier in our life we are content to spend our time volunteering (food pantry and hospice for me, land conservation for my husband) and to labor on our son's farm on the coast where we get to labor alongside our grandchildren. We are also restoring an old meadow farm on the coast, battling invasive plants and planting a new hard cider orchard which will undoubtedly outlive us. We've been very grateful for the good health and well-being in our lives and the friendship of so many kind people over the years. |
