Juanita (Samler) Bugbee
My husband's name is John Bugbee. We have been married for 47 years. I worked at Norton Company doing secretarial work after high school. My husband & I adopted two children, and then I was a stay at home Mom. We now have two grandchildren Katie 15 & Lily 9. I have had cancer twice, but like my husband's Uncle said...She is a tough old broad, and I am still here. I enjoy decorating & refinishing antique furniture. We had a Beach House for over 20 years in Lavallette, New Jersey. We enjoyed boating in Barnegat Bay, and thank God we sold before Hurricane Sandy hit the shore area!! My husband is a retired Police Inspector. He worked for the Rockland County Sheriff's Office for 27 years. I always enjoyed the dances in the High School Gym. My favorite teacher was Mr. Scott Ljungberg. We now live in Honesdale, Pa. with a dog & 2 cats & very much enjoy when the grand kids come to visit. Looking forward to the reunion & seeing some "OLD FRIENDS!!" |
"From the crown on his head to the sole of his foot he is all mirth."
After high school I attended Worcester Junior College and Worcester State College.
In 1968 I was drafted, and joined the Marine Corps for two years. While in the Marines I was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkins Disease (cancer), probably from exposure to ‘Agent Orange.’ Had six months of chemo; four years later the cancer returned; had six more months of chemo; been in remission since. I worked various construction and building facility management jobs and as a heavy equipment operator. In 2009 during pre-testing for shoulder surgery they found serious heart damage from chemo. Retired - 100% disabled veteran. Moved to Lakeway, Texas, a suburb of Austin, in 2013. Active in hot rod and car show scene in Texas. My daily driver is a ’32 Ford pick-up hot rod (Corvette engine, tranny, etc). My hobbies are hot rods, antique and classic cars, and quilting. Married Patricia in 1978; one daughter, Amy (31) expecting first grandchild in August (2015). My favorite place to travel is to Disneyworld. My favorite memory of Wachusett is the senior class play. |
"True joy is made up of a happy heart and a happy mind."
"Life with industry is happiness."
After High School I attended Worcester State College and later transferred to The Art Institute of Boston. I worked for the Telegram and Gazette in the Art Department for many years and later relocated to Georgia and New Jersey with my husband John. We eventually returned to MA and there my husband of 32 years died of cancer. I have two children and 5 grandchildren. I am retired now and enjoying my very active grandchildren and also doing some artwork of my own. I'm uncertain whether I will be able to attend the reunion but send my best wishes to all.

Fifty years! Hard to believe isn't it?
Soon after graduation, I served a year with the Mass Air Guard where I went through intense electronics training. This training helped create an occupation that served me well over the years; first at the former Sprague Electric and later on in the high tech industry. In the late 60's I left Sprague to attend Quinsigamond College. While at Quinsigamond I worked at Denholm's in Worcester as a buyer and there I met my former wife, Wendy. We married in 1973 and had two wonderful daughters, Lauren and Meghan.
By the early 80's, I combined my electronics training and buying experience for a career in hi tech Purchasing Management; first with the major computer companies and finally at Bose Corporation. Although a hectic career, it afforded me the ability to travel extensively on a global basis and to build a lifetime of experiences.
During the late 80's I met my wife Deb with whom I have been together with ever since. We married in 2008 in a ceremony officiated by none other than Bob Wright who secured a one day JP license to marry us. Since getting married, we split our time between Sandwich, Ma, Princeton, Ma., and Hilton Head SC. Deb and I retired in 2012, and have done a fair amount of travel since then most memorably an 8 week cross country drive and cruise with the Wrights.
We have two grandchildren, Zachary and Scarlett. Amazing kids! For those of us that have grandkids, isn't it great? We have the time these days to see the grandkids on a pretty regular basis and enjoy the times when we have all the family on the Cape with us .
My health is good, even if you include the loss of hair, fuzzy eyesight and poor hearing that is a trapping of advanced age. I had bit of a health issue about 20 years ago but thanks to modern medicine I am as fit as a fiddle!
Oh yes, I play drums in a rock band on occasion. The Rusty Buckets Band. We are known throughout the area as the "go to" band for pig roasts at the local sportsman clubs.
My fondest memories of Wachusett include the comprehensive curriculum, the intense learning experiences and the feeling of total achievement upon graduation.....well not exactly.
What I will always remember are the friends I made, the fun times and my lifelong buddies.

"Success follows earnest effort."
"Blessed be those who studieth not."
I entered the Navy in 1968 with my friend and fellow classmates Dave Taber. I was on a training ship for most of my tour. Dave’s ship went to Vietnam and was hit by shore artillery. His gun mount blew up, killing two and badly injuring a few sailors, including Dave. He received a purple heart and a couple of other medals. We remained friends and co-workers over the next twenty years. Dave died of cancer in 1989.
Upon leaving the service I went to work driving a truck for a few different companies. I must have liked it because it lasted over forty years. In 1980 I married Joyce Prinsen (WRHS class of 1968). I have been retired now for a little over five years. Yard work, cutting and splitting wood, working on cars, kids, grandkids and some travel keep me going these days. Thanks to the folks who helped put this reunion together and best wishes to everyone. |
"There's mischief in her eyes and music in her heart."
My primary career was wife and mother. That lasted a little over 25 years, which included stints working in medical, college, and commercial offices. My second marriage was short-lived, as my husband died of a geoblastoma 11 years ago. My secondary career was 22 years in commercial banking, retiring in the Portsmouth, NH area in 2009.
I remain, contentedly, single, but have a son and a daughter and five wonderful grandchildren, three boys and two girls, ages 6 to 18. Happily, I live within two hours of them all, so even though I’m not there for the day-to-day activities, I am able to see them and enjoy them frequently. I live on the NH seacoast, in Stratham, and have for 18 years. I loved Keene when I was raising our kids, but I now find it hard to imagine leaving the seacoast! Other than two hip replacements, a wonky knee and moderately high blood pressure, I feel I’m in pretty good shape…for the shape I’m in! Quitting smoking on my 50th birthday has to have helped. I enjoy singing in the church choir, reading, playing bridge and golf, biking, gardening and grandchildren. I am also a Hospice volunteer and a CASA volunteer, which keep my life in perspective, as I enjoy good health and good fortune. I love Italy (twice), Ireland, Slovenia, Aruba, Kauai, Vancouver, BC, Holland and Bermuda, as well as what I have seen of this country, but maybe I haven’t yet found my favorite place to travel. I still hope to find it, and will continue to try as long as I can. There are so many wonderful places yet to be experienced. Relating a favorite memory of Wachusett may not be possible, so many changes occurred during those four years and so many things happened. We lived through an incredible time in history, desegregation, a loss of innocence with the assassination of JFK, the birth of the space age, the Beatles, pinning something down would be harder than nailing Jello to a wall. That being said, I did love Glee Club and working on the Senior Play. Who’d have thought that pineapple pork pizza would become Hawaiian Pizza! |
"Woman is the artificer of her own happiness."
"He was not merely a chip off the old block, but the old block itself."
I played soccer at Bowdoin and graduated with a BA in 1969. I graduated from the University of Rochester in 1974 as an MD. I am an instructor of surgery at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). I am chief of surgery at Noyes Hospital in Dansville New York.
I lack Plan "B" so continue to work!! My wife Mary is an artist. We have three children. Heather is a lawyer, also with three children. My son Adam is a physicist and Matt is a programming engineer. I coached at the varsity level for 20 plus years - the only hobby I had! We vacation in Maine at the family cottage and have a condo in Grand Cayman. I can always get the kids and grandkids to warm weather!! I have many memories from Wachusett but still chuckle at Andy Fay’s car in the corridor for Mrs Ives French class. |
"The deepest rivers flow with the least sound."
After graduating from WPI, with an MS in Industrial Management, I went to work for GE in Fitchburg, Mass in their procurement department. While working at GE, I completed an MBA Program at WPI, living, primarily, in Hubbardston, Ma.. I left GE in 1986 for a position as Director of Materials for Standard Motor Products, an automotive aftermarket company, located in Queens, NY. I worked for SMP for the next 14 years including a 4 year stint with their brake division which was located in Hartford Ct. In 2001, I went to work for Cablevision Systems of Bethpage NY as their Director of Forecasting. I remained with Cablevision until my retirement in October of 2013.
I have 3 sons from my first marriage. They range in age from 26 to 34 years old. My wife Barbara and I moved from Long Island to our present address in Clayton, NC in July of 2014. We are enjoying our retirement a great deal and plan to do some traveling over the next winter. |

I worked in various aspects of the retail industry into the early eighties when I began working as a pastry chef. Around the same time I met some people who really loved God and began showing me His character. They demonstrated His love in a way that took me in and changed my life forever. In 1993 I moved to Vermont – a place I have always loved. I met a wonderful guy and we married in 1994. It’s been good. I always knew that I was meant to be an artist, but with fabric as a medium not paint. Since 1996 I have been painting with fabric and thread. A high point of 2014 was a solo exhibit of my work in the first grade classroom of the old Princeton Center School. My husband is French from France. As his family lives there, France is a regular travel destination. All those French classes paid off! We also love traveling in the western US and Canada. Alaska is our favorite place. Between the 2 of us we have 3 daughters, one in Vermont, one in Virginia and one in Tennessee. My best memories of Wachusett are painting scenery for plays and decorating for proms. The art room was definitely my preferred spot although Mrs. Bird’s (Miss Malboeuf’s) French class took second. |
"The reward of one duty done is the power to do another."
"Style is the dress of thoughts."
What I remember most about high school is working really hard so that I could get accepted at Boston University in order to study Occupational Therapy. What I remember least is all of that French I labored over. Sorry Madame Malboeuf
I followed the dream that I had from Junior High of becoming an Occupational Therapist and I worked for 42 years in special education in the public schools. I retired three years ago and am enjoying the best phase of my life. I have been even busier in my yard than usual recently, as the Harvard Garden Club recently toured my yard. My other passion is service dogs and I am fostering a poodle now through an organization called American Poodles At Work. It feels like I'm continuing my OT work but it’s even more fun. I have lived in Massachusetts my entire life and currently I live on Spec Pond in Lancaster with my wonderful guy Bob. I have a vacation home in Florida so I can visit with my two sons and their families. Each of my sons has a son, so the additional bonus is that I get special time with my two grandsons. My daughter commutes to work from Buffalo to Boston to work as a chiropractor every week so I get to see her often as well. When I am not visiting Florida or New York and I enjoy traveling to other places such as the Caribbean, Europe, and Hawaii. |
"Here is a maiden without pretense."
I retired after working as a Nurse, specializing in geriatrics.
My husband and I have been married for 48 years. We have two sons, Ernest and Andrew, and three grandchildren, Samantha, Alexander and Carley. Now we are residents of Gulfport, Florida, but in the summer we live at my childhood home in Sterling. For pleasure, we enjoy boating, moving, traveling and spending time with the grandchildren. Last year we toured the western Caribbean, and in February we toured Australia and New Zealand. I do have a significant health issue. At age 44 I was diagnosed with CMT disorder (Charcot- Marie Tooth disorder) a progressive neuromuscular disease. My favorite memory of Wachusett is meeting my BFF Carol Hickey Guerro and making so many friends from all the five towns. And the junior and senior proms were memorable. |
"The highest graces of music flow from the feelings of the heart."
My friends call me Casey.
I am retired, but recently was accepted at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. I did not have the money to attend, but would still like to go. I have three grown children and five grandchildren. In 2009 I had an aortic valve replacement at MGH in Boston. Hobbies that I enjoy include photography, bicycle riding, kayaking and playing my French horn at the FCCH church, and the Holden Nursing Home Service with Pastor John Barber. I have traveled to Hyannis on Cape Cod, and Nantucket and the other island, Martha’s Vineyard. And I live in Holden My favorite memory of Wachusett was band practice, and playing first French horn. We still held band practice the afternoon that JFK was shot. |
